MICROSOFT OFFICE 365

We have all heard about Office 365, do you really know what it is and what it is about? "Office 365" refers to subscription plans that include access to Office applications plus other productivity services that are enabled over the Internet (cloud services). The plans vary from the most basic plan that includes a Microsoft Cloud based e-mail facility or you can go as far as having all your users on the latest and most up to date versions of Microsoft Office 24/7.

Basically Microsoft, amongst others, are making the move from the traditional “buy to own” model to the subscription based model. Both of them have their pro’s and con’s. The info here serves to introduce you to Office 365 and help you possibly make a decision in the future.

Many Office 365 plans also include the desktop version of the latest Office applications, which licensed users can install across multiple computers and devices. The fully installed applications include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Outlook, Publisher, and Access. (Publisher and Access are available on PC only.) And you can install them across multiple devices, including PCs, Macs, Android tablets, Android phones, iPad, and iPhone. When you have an active Office 365 subscription that includes the desktop version of Office, you always have the most up-to-date version of the applications.

All Office 365 plans are paid for on a subscription basis, monthly or annually.

Some of the most basic benefits are the following:

  • Each user can install the Microsoft Office software on up to 5 devices (provided correct Office 365 license is purchased)

  • The desktop applications are always up to date

  • You can use their cloud based Microsoft Exchange Environment and start using mail that is always available, backed up and cloud based

  • Fixed monthly cost as apposed to unknown cost when machines get replaced. With Office 365 one can simply delete a user and create a new user and assign the same license.

  • As Microsoft Office improve features and products, so do you get them with constant version updates and improvements.

  • Improved license management.

  • Get 1TB cloud storage via OneDrive with certain licenses.
